    Rakesh Roshan, son of music maestro, the late Roshan Sahib, started his career in films in 1968, as an assistant director to veterans like H.S.Rawail and Mohan Kumar. Although he was keen on direction, his good looks ensured that he became a hero with Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani (1970). When his debut film was a super hit, he decided to pursue his acting career and acted in over 70 films, which includes silver jubilee and golden jubilee hits. However the passion for film making remained intact, and in 1977, Rakesh Roshan launched his own company Filmkraft. After producing films like ‘Aap ke Deewane’, ‘Kaamchor’, ‘ ‘Jaag Utha Insaan’ and ‘Bhagwan Dada’ with other directors, Roshan made his directorial debut with ‘Khudgarz’ in 1987. To date, Rakesh Roshan has produced and directed memorable blockbuster like Khoon Bhari Maang, Kishan Kanhaiya, King Uncle, Karan Arjun, Koyla, Kaho Naa Pyar Hain, Koi... Mil Gaya and Krrish. In December 1999, Filmkraft became Filmkraft Productions (India) Pvt. Ltd.

    He and his super star son Hrithik Roshan make an unbeatable team and the father-son duo together has delivered three of India’s biggest hits, which include: Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. :- Hrithik Roshan’s debut film registered all time record collections all over the world and overnight Hrithik became the heartthrob of the nation. The film found a prestigious place in the Limca book of records by winning over a hundred awards. Kaho Naa Pyar Hain has also been dubbed in Spanish and released in seven countries so far.

    Koi ...Mil Gaya:- This was the first Sci-Fi with an alien on the Indian silver screen. Rakesh Roshan was recognized as an international director. Among the many awards won by this film, was the coveted National Award for best film.

    Krrish :- This was a sequel to Koi ...Mil Gaya and the Indian audience went wild seeing their heartthrob Hrithik Roshan transform into a flying superhero. When the film released, it surpassed all box-office records and proved to be the highest grosser of 2006. Krrish merchandise flew off the shelves. But the best accolade Roshan received was when Krrish was selected by the Indian Institute of Management, Indore, as a case study for its management syllabus. This was the first time an Indian film was used as a case study by a prestigious Indian management institute.

    With ambitious plans of expansion in mind, Filmkraft Pvt. Ltd. has now started producing films with outside directors as well. The first in this line up was Krazzy 4, sitcom suspense thriller, directed by Jaideep Sen. Rakesh Roshan ventured into crossover films with Kites. Extensively shot in the U.S. with foreign technicians, it was directed by Anurag Basu and starred Hrithik Roshan in the lead along with Latin American heroine Barbara Mori. It was released on 21st May, 2010. The shorter international version was called Bret Ratner presents Kites: The Remix.

    Kites was the first Hindi film to debut among top ten in the US. The film was also released in Spanish all over the Spanish speaking countries and in various parts of South America. Filmkraft also owns a post-productions division with AVID set up for in-house projects and also runs a separate division for Ad film making and event management called Filmkraft Entertainment. The Ads produced for various corporate houses from this division are directed by Rakesh Roshan himself.

    Rakesh Roshan enjoys an enviable reputation as actor-producer-director; having starred in over 80 films, directed 12 films and produced 15 films in a career spanning 40 years. He was honoured at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2006 in Panaji, Goa, for his contribution to mainstream cinema. The same year he was also honoured by the Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA) for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema over the past 35 years. In 2010, IFFA, honoured him by bestowing the Best Director of the Decade Award.

    On the anvil is Krrish 3, the sequel to Krrish, to be produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan and starring, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi and Kangna Ranaut. The film will have top of the line foreign technicians including action director Tony Ching to choreograph the action sequences. The music will be by Rajesh Roshan. Krrish 3 is slated for release around Diwali 2013.
